What's New for 2023?

Though the design of the Renegade hasn't been updated, there are plenty of changes to the model. The biggest change is the discontinuation of the front-wheel drive - now, all new Renegade models come standard with all-wheel drive. Additionally, Jeep has removed the Sport trim from the lineup.

Along with removing several features, Jeep has added some too. Latitude models now offer a Premium Group package which includes a power driver's seat, a heated steering wheel and front seats, roof rails, and cornering fog lamps. A new Upland Special Edition is offered on the base Latitude, which adds a more rugged exterior look, unique 17-inch wheels on all-terrain tires, and a seven-inch digital gauge.

Two new paint options are also available called: Detonator Yellow and Solar Yellow.

Trims

The Jeep Renegade is sold in three distinct trim levels:

• Limited
• Trailhawk

Performance

Powering every trim of the Renegade is a turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine that outputs 177 horsepower and 210 lb.-ft of torque. All trims also come standard with a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, except for the Trailhawk, which uses a four-wheel drive system.

With the base model being dropped, every Renegade now has a standard fuel economy of about 23 mpg in the city and 29 on the highway. The Trailhawk and its four-wheel drive system have a different rating of 22 in the city and 27 on the highway.

Cargo Room

With only 18.5 cubic feet of space behind its rear seats, the Renegade doesn't offer the most spacious cargo area. Though the rear seats can be folded flat and by when in this position, the cargo area is expanded to 50.8 cubic feet.

Interior & Technology

The Renegade's interior is open and roomy, with plenty of headroom and shoulder room. The square-shaped doors open wide, and the seats are positioned well enough to make getting in and out easy. Even getting out of the back is a breeze as the large side and rear windows and big outside mirrors help you see out of the sides and back.

Besides being highly spacious and functional, the Renegade has plenty of technology. The 8.4-inch touchscreen supports Jeep's Uconnect interface and includes features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a built-in navigation system, and SiriusXM satellite radio.

Safety Features

Not only does the Renegade have an impressive list of technology, but it also has great standard and optional safety features. Base features include forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert. A semi-autonomous drive mode even helps to park in parallel and perpendicular spots.
